Candace Gustine Candace Gustine was born and raised in Mississippi. She attended the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio graduating in '03 with a BFA in Graphic Design. It was in the spring of 2000 that she took her first East Coast swing lessons in Akron. That summer she took Lindy Hop lessons under Joel Ply and other Get Hep Swing instructors in Cleveland, Ohio. She danced fairly hard core for 2 years. Then under the demands of finishing college, swing took a back seat. Then another 2 years went by with no dancing as life bounced her around for a while (back to Mississippi, England, etc...). Now back to dancing full force, she co-founded and began teaching with Red Hot Lindy Hop in 2005. She desires to see the swing dance community of Memphis grow in numbers and quality of dance. She's taken classes and workshops under Joel Ply, Peter Strom, Caitlin George, Sky Humphries, Nina Gelkenson, , Bill Borgida, etc... Her most recent accrediation, 1st place Jill and Jack at Lindy Focus IV. |
